Port Talbot heralds the start of Christmas

Despite the weather intervening and changing the plans for the Viva PT Christmas Parade, visitors enjoyed some fantastic festive fun in Port Talbot on 23rd November. With workshops, market stalls, live music, and children’s activities to enjoy throughout the day, those from babies to the young at heart were entertained. The magical Christmas Parade of characters and bands heralded the start to Christmas, culminating with Santa arriving at his Grotto in Aberafan Shopping Centre.

Santa will be at Aberafan on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays in the lead-up to Christmas, with a bonus day on Sunday 22nd December. A meet and greet with the ‘main man’ in his grotto costs just £6, payable contactless on the day, and includes a small gift. There is no need to book.

Even if your little ones don’t want to visit Santa, the installation Santa’s Grotto: A Yellow Car Adventure, is a sight to behold, welcoming visitors from all over Wales and beyond. With the ‘yellow car’ family firmly stuck in a snowdrift on their way to Lapland, they spot a superb Santa’s Grotto surrounded by trees in the heart of Port Talbot…the rest of the story is yours to discover at Aberafan Shopping Centre.

Chris Morgan MBE, Centre Manager at Aberafan Shopping Centre commented:

"We were thrilled to step in and support Viva PT to bring the annual Christmas Parade event to our local community. The work behind the scenes at the last minute, plus the building of our Santa’s Grotto, has been well worth the effort when seeing the enchantment in the eyes of our visitors.

"We look forward to welcoming families to our Santa’s Grotto: A Yellow Car Adventure installation over the next few weeks. A huge vote of thanks goes to all those involved in making this possible.”
