Day 1 of the Sally Jones Archive Project...

We’re thrilled to share a fantastic milestone for the Sally Jones Archive Project!

Tuesday 8th April marked the first day that Rachel, our dedicated Archivist, began her important work onsite at Unit 3&4 within the Centre.

Rachel’s role is to organise, preserve, and make accessible the unique and historically significant records generously entrusted to us by Welsh poet and cultural historian, Sally Roberts Jones. These original documents, which span decades of local history, will be carefully archived to ensure their long-term value and availability for future generations.

To celebrate the occasion, we arranged a special photo opportunity inside the future archive room. We were delighted to welcome Sally herself, who dropped by to advise Rachel on the first collection of documents that had been brought over. Her presence added a special touch to the day and underscored the importance of the archive's mission.

Over the coming weeks, more documentation and materials will be arriving onsite. With Rachel’s expertise, these will be transformed into a valuable, accessible resource that captures and preserves the rich cultural and literary heritage of the Port Talbot area.

Stay tuned for more updates as the archive continues to take shape. We’ll be sharing progress along the way!
