Back to the 70s

We went ‘back to the 70s’ for summer 2023 at Aberafan Shopping Centre!  From the decade that gave us decimalisation and the invention of the barcode, a time when travel became cheaper and Concorde took to the skies, and top toys included the Space Hopper, Stylophone, and stunt kites, plus Action Man, Barbie, and Sindy dolls. People were wearing flared trousers, platform shoes, and hot pants back then!  It was also the decade of Aberafan Shopping Centre, from when building started, to their doors first opening! 

Whatever you did (or didn’t) remember about the Seventies, we hope that you enjoyed our Seventies Room. We saw plenty of people taking photos with our selfie frame, colouring images from that era, reminiscing at the photo board (even finding a lady who recognised herself in a photo she hadn't seen before as a young Cadet), and of course loving the star of the show, the real life Ford Capri!
